Fluorite
Fluorite is a semi-precious gemstone found across the world in Canada, USA, South Africa, Thailand, Peru, Mexico, China, Poland, Hungary, Czech, Slovakia, Norway, England, and Germany. Formerly called fluorspar, Fluorite has a wide range of colours including yellow, blue, pink, purple and green and often more than one colour is present in a single specimen. The ancient Egyptians used Fluorite to carve statues and scarabs, the Chinese used it in carvings for over 300 years and in the 18th century Fluorite was powdered in water to relieve the symptoms of kidney disease. Fluorite jewellery is said to absorb and neutralise negative vibrations and makes the wearer more receptive to the vibrations of other stones. It is thought to be beneficial to the intellect (hence it is sometimes also called the ‘genius stone’) and should be kept in every room of the home. Fluorite is also a semi-precious gemstone for the zodiac sign of Aquarius (Jan 20-Feb 18).
